The only program of its kind in Central Florida, our Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in film focuses on the integration of theoretical, historical, and cultural application of film.
Through courses in production, art, and screenwriting, you'll conceptualize effective strategies for creating moving media. Classes in cinema history will challenge you to think critically about images and their meaning. Courses like Film Aesthetics and Storytelling for the Screen will provide insights into disseminating messages across a diverse array of distribution channels.
A portfolio submission is required for admission into the Film Program.

Our unique BFA gives you an overview of the film-making process while providing flexibility to explore your specific interests. Modern FacilitiesState-of-the-art 4k cinema cameras, gimbals, LED lights, and editing labs expose you to the latest in film and video technology to prepare and give you the tools needed for the required internship and senior thesis.
High Demand WorkAccording to a popular study, and despite the ongoing pandemic, video advertising will exceed well over $30 billion dollars for 2020 and continue to increase at a pace of 35% by 2023.
Hands-On Day OneA camera is placed in your hands the moment you walk on campus. Our freshman only production course gives you rigorous production experience with access our diverse equipment. Each student will complete an entire short film project by the end of their first semester at FSC.
Showcase WorkYou have the opportunity to present your work at our annual ‘Southern Reel’ film showcase as well as submit and screen work at film festivals across the world.
Bring Your Story To LifeYour capstone project is your chance to create a work of your own. Over the course of two semesters, you'll conceptualize your topic, chose a project advisor, and together outline a strategy for bringing your story to life.
Talent-based scholarships for students intending to pursue a film degree are available through the submission of a portfolio for review. A portfolio submission is required for admission into the Film Program.Learn More about Portfolio Requirements
All freshman applicants to Florida Southern Colleges full-time degree programs must submit the following information:
- A completed application form
- An official high school transcript
- SAT and/or ACT scores (unless applying Test-Optional)
- Academic recommendation
Applying to Florida Southern as a transfer student is easy.
