Study the consequences of human actions on the natural landscape.

Our use of natural resources impacts the environment on a local, regional, and global scale. Study important issues directly related to the consequences of human action on the natural landscape, and gain insight and understanding of the policies and the history that led us to this point.

Your degree in Environmental Studies will provide you with a fundamental background in the sciences that are necessary to understand the environment as well as historical and political perspectives. You'll gain effective communication skills that allow you to find possible solutions to local or global problems. By focusing on biology, ecology, and government and economic policies, you will graduate ready to enter into a career with governmental agencies, the forestry service, or other environmental groups.

My favorite thing about my major is how easy it is to get involved. So many of the professors either look for interns or can recommend you opportunities. I applied my first semester and by this spring I’m working in a lab. We’re a busy bunch for sure but the professors are absolutely amazing.

Gretchen Faraci

I love many of the hands on aspects of my major. So many of my professors try to engage us in going beyond the zoom/classroom setting even with Covid-19. One of my biology classes challenges me to document a new organism I discover on campus every week!
