My aunt graduated from Florida Southern in 2011, and she introduced me to the school, and I applied because I know my parents wanted me to have a good education. Life is different in the United States but it is easy to live here. I have class from the morning through the afternoon, then I join some girlfriends to have meetings for classwork or the education and psychology clubs I am a part of, we go out, and have dinner together. We really do everything together which is fun. Two of my favorite memories are a trip some students and I took around Lakeland and to Tampa when I first got here, as well as when we went to Miami for winter break!

I previously played tennis for a small school in Michigan, but when we played against Florida Southern College, I saw the campus and the school and fell in love with it, so when I looked into transferring, I thought “why not Florida Southern? They’re a good school and play great tennis.” Some of my favorite memories are the wins against high ranking opponents, but also being a part of the business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, where I have been able to grow as a person and as a business professional. When applying, talk to Karla; she made the whole application and visa process super easy, and stays in communication well.

I am from Santorso, Italy and I play for the Florida Southern women’s volleyball team. I found Florida Southern College through an italian volleyball player whose coach was an All American volleyball player at FSC. I spend most of my time with team mates, lifting almost every day, going to classes, hanging out by the pool or in the gym and at practice, but my favorite memory so far was on my birthday, during an early morning pre-season practice, afterwards my teammates came in with a cake and candles which was really sweet. I would encourage other students to come to FSC too! The experience is really cool, and there are lots of other international students and cultures to get to know.

When looking at colleges, I had a sibling that goes to Florida Southern and I knew my parents were looking for a college with a smaller student population, located in Florida as well. I've gotten to play intramurals, and serve on the multicultural student council, and be a part of the ROTC program where I’ve made some of the best memories like doing the Spartan Race with other ROTC cadets. College is not what it always looks like in the movies, I get up early in the morning for PT and go to classes. I like to save class work for the weekend so I can chill during the week, play basketball, and work.

I remember getting an email from Florida Southern letting me know that I could apply at no cost, and my advice to other students is to just apply! You don’t have to come, but if you apply and are accepted, I recommend coming to Scholars Weekend because it is a life changing experience and it impacted my decision to come to this school. It’s a great system because you get to see a day in the life of a college student. For me, that’s waking up 10 minutes before going to class, getting my class and homework done, then spending time hanging out with my fraternity brothers, hanging out in the hallway with friends, or walking the lake, making new memories every day.

I was looking for colleges in Florida, and my brother recommended FSC after seeing that they have a good Biology program and offer a Pre-Med track, which is what I'm studying, and when I looked it up online, it was love at first sight. I’ve been able to join campus ministries and the Multicultural Student Council, where I got to be a part of the Afro-Caribbean dancing night where we got to learn how to dance and meet other students. I love that FSC is a small community, and everyone is welcoming and accommodating and encourages other students to go for it if you're thinking about applying, Florida Southern makes the application process easy and smooth. When you get here, put yourself out there and get involved, it’s the best way to make connections around campus!

I visited FSC for Scholars weekend, which was an awesome experience where I got an accurate representation of what being a Florida Southern student feels like. The application process was like working towards a goal: being a student at FSC, and throughout the process I was given all the support I could ask for from my admissions counselor, whom I now have a friendship with that probably will last for a long time, and I’m grateful for that. As expected, there are many cultural differences which makes the experience fun to explore, I’ve really been able to grow in my time management skills and have been able to make really good improvements in my daily life, and the friends I’ve made so far have made the transition easier than I thought it would be.

I found Florida Southern through a survey through College Board and found the admissions process to be really simple as the questions are meant to get to know you and see if you were the right fit for the school, and your admissions counselor is a really great guide and helped throughout the process. As a biology major in my third year, it’s tough but manageable, and being in classes related to my goal of being a veterinarian surgeon is really exciting. For incoming students, it’s important to know that the process is long and is a big step coming from abroad, so pay attention to the clubs, the environment, and other details to make sure the school is a good fit for you.

As a result, students are advised to submit applications as early as possible to assure optimal admission and financial aid consideration. Additionally, upon receiving admission, students are advised to submit the required enrollment deposit promptly to reserve their space in the incoming class.

Step 3:

I gained the capability of analyzing external factors such as geopolitical mechanisms, the economy, the industry, etc. in order to determine what factors create a situation and how to use these factors to mitigate the situation. These skills have been instrumental to my career advancement.
