A Message From the Dean

On behalf of Florida Southern College and the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, I warmly welcome you! As you embark on your journey toward a fulfilling healthcare career, I am thrilled to provide insights into the array of programs we offer, each designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary for success.

At Florida Southern, we are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals, including nurses, exercise scientists, advanced practice nurses, and healthcare leaders. Our esteemed faculty members, experienced practitioners, researchers, and administrators are committed to guiding and inspiring you throughout your academic and professional endeavors. They are here to support you, challenge you, and cultivate a lifelong passion for learning.

Our programs offer unparalleled opportunities for hands-on learning. Whether you are pursuing our direct-entry Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, Bachelor of Exercise Science, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), you will have access to leading healthcare facilities such as Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, Winter Haven Hospital-BayCare Health System, Florida Presbyterian Homes, and Moffitt Cancer Center. These clinical settings provide a rich learning environment where you will develop expertise in various areas of healthcare, from adult health to critical care.

In addition to clinical experiences, you’ll benefit from internships managed by faculty, global opportunities to enhance cultural perspectives, and cutting-edge learning environments. Equipped with state-of-the-art clinical laboratory classrooms and high-fidelity patient simulators, FSC’s facilities promote hands-on learning and skill development essential to your career.

As a graduate of Florida Southern's Ann Blanton Edwards School of Nursing and Health Sciences, you will emerge prepared to make a difference in healthcare. Our graduates are highly sought after by employers who recognize the quality of education and training they receive. 100% of BSN graduates from the class of 2023 passed the NCLEX and secured employment within six months of graduation, a testament to the rigor of our programs and the dedication of our faculty and staff.

I invite you to take that next step. Whether you are just beginning your journey or seeking to advance your education, we are here to support you every step of the way. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or to schedule a visit.

We look forward to welcoming you to our community and helping you achieve your goals.

Best wishes,

Laly Joseph Laly Joseph, DVM, DNP, CNE, RN, MSN, ARNP, ANP-BC, FNAP
