New Doctor Of Education Degree Offered For Professionals

Dec 1, 2016

Florida Southern College announces it is offering a new doctoral degree program in education for those seeking to attain the highest level of leadership in careers both outside and inside education.

The general doctor of education (EdD) program is designed to help professionals make a further impact in their chosen careers. Applicants do not need to have a degree or experience in education. Students from fields such as higher education, ministry, law enforcement, the military, government, public service, and the nonprofit sector will find value in the EdD program, which will equip individuals with the skills to further their knowledge and practice through research.

Students complete 40 percent of the coursework online and take seven traditional classroom courses scheduled on alternating Saturdays. Courses include career-building topics such as curriculum, assessment and accountability, professional development, research-driven decision making, and policy analysis.

Dr. Tracey Tedder, dean of the School of Education, said, “I am excited about such a great opportunity for leaders to obtain a doctoral degree which can assist with expanding career opportunities and providing answers through research to areas of concern in our community and in the global sector.”

Applications are now being accepted for a new cohort that begins in the summer. For more information, contact the Office of Adult and Graduate Admission at Florida Southern College at 863.680.3912, or check out our Doctor of Education webpage.
