Simulation and Clinical Learning Center

Where Hands-on Training Shapes Tomorrow's Healthcare Professionals

Welcome to the Simulation and Clinical Learning Center at Florida Southern College! This state-of-the-art facility serves graduate and undergraduate programs within the School of Nursing and Health Sciences, providing a cutting-edge environment where students can develop their clinical skills in a realistic, controlled, and safe setting.

The center features advanced technology with top-of-the-line, high-fidelity simulators and specialized simulation suites that resemble clinical settings. Simulators allow students to engage in complex clinical activities, ensuring that learners are well-prepared for real-world scenarios by enhancing their critical thinking and clinical judgment.

How the Simulation and Clinical Learning Center Enhances Nursing Education

Comprehensive and Integrated Training

This progressive approach builds on students' previous experiences and knowledge, ensuring a thorough and continuous learning process.

Development of Critical Thinking and Clinical Judgement

Through realistic scenarios and debriefing sessions, students discuss their performance, understand their mistakes, and learn how to improve, fostering a continuous learning process and better preparing them for clinical practice.

Safe and Realistic Learning Environment

Students gain hands-on experience in a controlled, risk-free space where they can practice procedures, make independent decisions, and learn from their mistakes without real-life consequences.

Advanced Technology & High-Fidelity Simulators

Realistic Patient Interactions (Standardized Patient Program)

Florida Southern’s Standardized Patient (SP) Program enhances learning by allowing students to interact with trained individuals who portray actual patients in a simulated clinical setting.

During an SP interaction, students conduct patient interviews to gather medical history and perform limited physical examinations relevant to the scenario, providing practice in medical decision-making, improving communication skills, and refining diagnostic reasoning.
