Charles Allen, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Exercise Science
Exercise Science Field Experience Coordinator
My teaching philosophy is based on my belief that the pursuit of education is a collaborative effort between the student and the educator. It is the responsibility of the student to make the necessary effort to learn the material and the fundamental role of an educator is to promote a student’s learning.
BiographyI was born and raised in a small farming town in South Carolina. I grew up playing sports and helping my father with everything from farming to fixing cars and construction. I attended Coastal Carolina University for an undergraduate degree in Physical Education and the University of Mississippi for a master's degree in Exercise Science. From 2007 until August of 2015, I worked at the University of Mississippi as the Fitness Coordinator in the Department of Campus Recreation. Additionally, I earned my PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Mississippi in 2015.
