Meet Florida Southern’s 2022-2023 SGA Executive Board

Apr 29, 2022

Florida Southern College students have elected their Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The SGA serves as the voice of the student body in matters involving the college administration, faculty, and staff.

Carter Webb ’23 was elected 96th Student Body President and will take over for Allen Shorey ’22, former SGA President, who is graduating at Spring Commencement. Carter previously served as the Vice President of Finance during the 2021-2022 academic year.

Serving alongside Carter on the executive board will be Executive Vice President Ruby Silver ’24; Administrative Vice President, Gretchen Faraci ’24; Vice President of Communications, Hannah Garcia ’23; Vice President of Finance, Kat Ableman ’23; Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Sophia Francisco ’23; Student Accountability Board Chair, Kayla Rosecrants ’23; and Vice President of Student Activities, Skippy Paquete ’23.

All members of the executive board are newly elected aside from Carter and Gretchen, who served as Vice President of Communications for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Allen, who is heading to Saint Louis University for graduate school next year, said serving as SGA President has been among the highest honors of his life.

“Working with such passionate and intelligent students and an administration that is willing and wanting to help with growth on campus has been incredible,” he said.

The former president said he has nothing but the highest confidence in Carter and the rest of the SGA Executive Board.

“I have worked with several of them throughout the years,” he said. “The students’ best interest is in good hands and our campus community will continue to grow.”

Carter, an Accounting major, is ready to make a difference on campus as SGA President.

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to lead Florida Southern as Student Body President for the 2022-2023 academic year,” he said. “FSC is a second home to me, and I am excited to create positive, impactful change to our campus. SGA has the influence to help student life vastly, and I want all students to have the best experiences inside and outside of the classroom.”
