Exercise science is the study of the body’s response to exercise and requires an understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, and exercise physiology.
By completing your B.S. in Exercise Science, you’ll learn how to conduct exercise assessments, structure exercise programs, promote fitness, and enhance conditioning not only for those with health limitations but also for healthy people.
Gain a solid foundation in the sciences. With an emphasis on exercise assessment, program design and instruction you’ll develop both practical hands-on skills and critical thinking skills needed to enter the workforce or make an easy transition to graduate school.
Our program is designed to prepare you to take the National Strength and Conditioning Association’ s (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam, a national and credible certification needed to enter the workforce.
Education Recognition Program (ERP) distinction by the NSCA means our program prepares students to be ready to enter the fitness industry upon graduation.
Learn to use metabolic testing equipment, heart rate monitors, blood pressure equipment, body composition assessment tools such as the BODPOD chamber, motion analysis software, force plate analyzers, electromyography (EMG) sensors, cycle ergometers and sports performance testing equipment.
100% placement rate for Exercise Science majors (2020) into DPT programs.

Often times in my classroom I will encourage students to complete self-evaluations of their respective learning progress by connecting learning outcomes to metacognition principles. The goal of this exercise is to help students move beyond just memorizing content for a test and instead develop awareness, reflection, and personal responsibility for their learning process. Cultivating a classroom environment centered on these aforementioned areas is a humbling task and one I wrestle with every semester. The reward is worth it when students begin to synthesize and apply information at a higher level of thinking, a transferrable skill needed to successfully navigate the dynamic healthcare landscape we live in today.
