Learn to Swim
Free lessons for FSC students, taught by certified Water Safety Instructors and tailored to your skill level and goals.

At Florida Southern, staying active is part of the everyday. A lakefront campus built for movement, a wellness center made for everyone, and a calendar full of ways to play, compete, and recharge. Whether you're an undergraduate chasing an intramural title, a graduate student squeezing in a swim before class, or somewhere in between, the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center is open to you. Every FSC student is welcome here.
However you like to move, the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center has room for it. Rows of cardio and strength equipment. Group exercise classes that make a workout feel like a party. And here's the part students love most: personal training, group classes, and nutrition coaching are all free.
You don't have to be a varsity athlete to compete. Intramurals are where friendships are built, rivalries are born, and bragging rights are won. Rally your hall, grab your teammates, or sign up solo as a free agent. Recent favorites: flag football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee, and the 3-point shootout, with the lineup changing every semester.

Our pool is an eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool with a shallow recreation end, open year-round and heated for winter. There's more to do here than laps.

Water basketball, volleyball, or an afternoon on a float with friends.
Not many colleges can say the lake is part of campus. Florida Southern sits right on Lake Hollingsworth, and our boathouse puts it all within reach. Check out a kayak or paddleboard, cast a line, watch the birds, or lace up for a lap on the three-mile paved path that circles the water. It's the kind of view that makes studying outside a little too tempting.

Florida life means the outdoors, year-round. Our adventure recreation trips take you off campus and into the wild to try something new, pick up a skill, and meet fellow adventurers. Past trips include horseback riding, rock climbing, and kayaking. Most are free. Just bring a sense of adventure.

The Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center is the heart of it all, built to give students, faculty, staff, and alumni room to move. Inside and around it you'll find Tanner Hall and the Kirk McKay, Jr. Exercise Room for strength and cardio, the James K. Sikes Aerobics Room for group classes, a full-size gymnasium, rock-climbing wall, sand volleyball courts and intramural fields, the waterfront, and tennis courts with free equipment checkout.
Wellness at Florida Southern goes beyond the gym and the lake. You're part of a connected community that supports every side of you — body, mind, and the friendships in between.
The best way to experience student life at Florida Southern is to see it for yourself. Come walk the campus, stand at the lakefront, and picture your next four years here.
