Florida Southern College, in partnership with Lakeland Regional Health, is committed to meeting the health and wellness needs of FSC’s community.

Feeling Sick or Hurt?

The Student Health Center offers walk-in medical care on campus, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Thrift Building. Operated by Lakeland Regional Health, the center is staffed full time by an advanced practice registered nurse and a medical assistant.

No appointment is needed.

  • Clinic visits with an APRN and a medical assistant
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Minor wound care supplies, such as bandages, gauze, and tape
  • Ice packs, braces, and splints
  • Crutches, available for loan
  • Injections (call for details)

For a Fee

Fees for the services below are billed to your student account.

  • Prescriptions filled at the Student Health Center
  • Flu and tetanus vaccines, when available
  • Flu, strep, urinalysis, and pregnancy tests
  • Pre-participation physicals

What to Expect at Your Visit

Our nurse practitioner diagnoses and treats common illnesses and injuries and can prescribe medications. Full-time day students can receive free over-the-counter medications after an evaluation, for symptoms like allergies, coughs, congestion, fever, sore throat, sinus trouble, and heartburn. Prescriptions can be filled here or at a local pharmacy.

Your privacy: Health records are kept strictly confidential and are released only with your written consent.

All Florida Southern students are required to submit proof of immunization. The College partners with Med+Proctor for immunization compliance and verification.

Every full-time student is required to carry health insurance, either through a family plan or through the UnitedHealthcare offered by the College.

The center is closed:

  • Thanksgiving: Wednesday through Friday of Thanksgiving week
  • Winter break: From the Monday after December Commencement until the first business day after Jan. 1
  • Summer: From the Monday after May Commencement until one week before fall move-in

Visit a local urgent care center, contact your primary care provider, or call 911 in an emergency. Campus Safety can arrange transportation to urgent care at 863.680.4305.

July 1. Submit your records through Med+Proctor.

  • A copy of your insurance card, front and back
  • A digital thermometer
  • Bandages in several sizes, silk tape, and 4x4 gauze pads
  • Antibiotic ointment and a topical antiseptic
  • A fever reducer and pain reliever
  • Cough and cold medicine, cough drops, and saline nasal spray
  • An antihistamine
  • Antacids
  • Tweezers
  • Hand sanitizer

For Florida weather, add:

  • Sunscreen and SPF lip balm
  • Insect repellent
  • Calamine lotion or cortisone cream
  • Aloe vera or burn cream

Never share your medications with other students. They may have allergies you don't know about.
