Need-Based Financial Aid

At Florida Southern, 98 percent of FSC students receive financial aid and we award more than $100 million in aid each year to offset the costs of attending.

Aid That Meets Your Need

Figuring out the cost of college can be stressful, so Florida Southern is committed to making a private education both accessible and affordable. Need-based aid, unlike loans, does not have to be repaid, and it can come from Florida Southern, the federal government, and the state of Florida.  Your eligibility is determined by your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

First Step: Apply for Admission

The first step to unlocking need-based aid is applying to Florida Southern. Once you are admitted and your FAFSA is on file, our Financial Aid Office will build your financial aid package.

Federal Grants and Programs

Federal Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant provides need-based grants to low-income, degree-seeking undergraduates who have not already earned a bachelor's degree. Your award depends on your financial need, cost of attendance, and enrollment status. Up to $7,395 per year

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

FSEOG provides additional need-based grants to undergraduates with exceptional financial need who are also Pell-eligible. Because funds are limited, filing your FAFSA early matters. Up to $300 per year

Federal Work-Study

For students who qualify, Federal Work-Study may provide the opportunity to secure part-time jobs, on campus and in the community, to help meet financial need while building work experience. Eligibility is based on the FAFSA, which must be filed each year.

Florida Grants for Residents

Florida residents attending a private college may qualify for additional state grants, including the Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG) and the EASE grant. Eligibility generally requires Florida residency and full-time enrollment, and funds may be limited, so file your FAFSA early. You will find the full list of Florida state aid programs, amounts, and eligibility on our Florida State Financial Aid page.
