Florida Southern’s premier Hollingsworth Scholarship, together with the McClurg and Christoverson awards, forms the Prestige Scholarship program, recognizing the top 10% of first-year applicants for their exceptional achievements, leadership, and promise. A commitment to your success
To qualify, applicants should:
- Be a first-time, first-year student admitted to Florida Southern by the deadline
- Have a high school GPA of 3.5 or above
- Earn at least a 29 ACT or 1330 SAT
Here's what you'll need to do:
- Complete the scholarship application by the priority deadline (November 1) or final deadline (January 3).
- Write one short essay (300–500 words) from a list of three prompts. You’ll choose the topic that best reflects your passions, goals, or contributions.
- If selected as a finalist, participate in a virtual interview with a faculty committee. This is your opportunity to share more about your academic promise, leadership potential, and future goals.

Do I need to submit anything extra besides the scholarship application and essay?
No. Once you’ve submitted the scholarship application and your FSC admission application, you’re set. We’ll review everything together.
What makes a strong essay?
Choose a prompt that feels personal to you and be authentic. We’re looking for your voice, not perfect grammar or polished buzzwords. Tell us about your experiences, passions, or ideas in a way only you can.
How competitive are these scholarships?
These are our most prestigious awards, so the selection process is competitive. But remember: if you’re invited to apply, it means we already see great potential in you.
What happens after the interview?
After interviews, the committee will make recommendations, and we’ll notify all finalists by email. You’ll have a clear timeline so you won’t be left wondering.
Can I still be considered for other scholarships if I’m not selected?
Yes! Every applicant is automatically reviewed for Florida Southern’s merit scholarships, so you’ll still receive a generous award package even if you’re not chosen for a Premier or Prestige Scholarship.

Yes. Applying by the priority deadline not only shows initiative but also ensures you’re considered in the first round of interviews and decisions.
