Office of Student Disability Services

Florida Southern welcomes all students seeking to further their education, and we are here to make sure a disability never stands between you and your degree. If you have a disability, we invite you to connect with us to talk through accommodations and any barriers you are facing or expect to face at FSC. The conversation is yours to start, and we are glad to have it whenever you are ready.

How to Get Started

Getting accommodations begins with a conversation and submitting documentation, and we will guide you through every step.

We use an interactive process, working with you (and, when helpful, the professionals who documented your disability and your family) to understand your needs and find the right support. Documentation from a licensed physician, psychologist, or other qualified professional is the most helpful starting point. A high school IEP or 504 Plan can be useful too, though it may not be sufficient on its own.

When you are ready, the registration process walks you through requesting accommodations and submitting your documentation.

How to Get Started

What We Ask of You

Accommodations work best as a partnership. As a student working with our office, you can help the process along by:

  • Reaching out, sharing your documentation, and requesting accommodations in a timely manner.
  • Participating in an interactive discussion (face-to-face, Zoom, phone) with a staff member of Student Disability Services.
  • Letting us know promptly if any issue with your accommodations comes up, so we can help resolve it.
