Become a Global Learner

Take your education across the world. Florida Southern offers study abroad experiences in destinations across the United States and around the globe, for a week during break or a full semester away. Every academic travel experience is faculty-led and built to immerse you in the place you're visiting, so you'll learn the culture and history, taste the local food, and build lasting connections as you broaden your global perspective.

Why Study Abroad at FSC

Florida Southern's study abroad is built to be more than a trip. Each experience is designed around what turns travel into education: real cultural immersion, academic credit that counts toward your degree, and a team that supports you from the first question to the flight home.

Immerse Yourself in the Local Culture

You won't just see a place, you'll engage with it. FSC travel experiences move past the postcard view toward genuine cultural exchange, so you'll learn history where it happened, share meals that carry meaning, and speak with the people who call your destination home.

Grow Your Global Perspective

Studying abroad challenges you to understand viewpoints shaped by different backgrounds and places. You'll return with the empathy, curiosity, and openness that employers and graduate programs look for, and a clearer sense of your own place in an interconnected world.

Earn Credit Toward Your Degree

Your time abroad counts. Credits from your study abroad courses apply toward your graduation requirements, and discipline-specific trips can fulfill requirements within your major, so you can go abroad and stay on track to graduate.

Travel With Full Support

From planning through your return, the Office of Student Travel provides guidance and support to help make your experience successful. Faculty directors lead each trip, planning the itinerary and coordinating details such as transportation, lodging, meals, and activities. Before departure, your faculty director will share a detailed itinerary and other important trip information.

Two Ways to Go Abroad

Florida Southern students have two paths to studying abroad. Both are open to you; which one fits depends on how long you want to be away and where you are in your degree.

Junior Journey: Short-Term, Faculty-Led Travel Courses

Florida Southern's Junior Journey program sends you abroad on a faculty-led travel experience of roughly one to 4 weeks during fall, spring, or May term. It's the most popular way FSC students see the world: short enough to fit your schedule, long enough to change your perspective.

The signature benefit is cost. As a junior or senior who has earned at least 60 credits, you can take one Junior Journey at a significantly reduced cost, FSC's way of investing in you. You'll travel with classmates and a faculty director, earn credit toward your degree, and choose from destinations across Europe, Asia and Oceania, the Caribbean and Latin America, and the United States.

Semester Abroad

If you want deeper immersion, Florida Southern partners with universities and agencies around the world so you can spend a full term abroad and still complete your graduation requirements. Study American degree programs in London, learn Spanish on the coast of Spain, live in a historic manor house outside London, or study business in Switzerland. If your destination isn't among our direct partners, our affiliate programs can connect you to institutions in Ireland, Japan, Brazil, Australia, and more.

Much of your Florida Southern financial aid may apply to a semester abroad, and scholarships like the Gilman can help cover the cost.

Student Voices

Every year, hundreds of Florida Southern students come home from abroad with a new perspective. Here's what some of them say about where they went and what it changed.

“My experience in France has changed my view of other cultures and helped me discover more about who I am as an American. I am constantly reminded that many people's personal views stem from where and how they were raised. It is easier for me to understand others' points of view and communicate my own.”

John Joseph

“The junior journey trip to Greece opened my eyes: we visited historical sites and learned their history, ate traditional meals and learned their significance, and spoke with locals and learned about their culture. FSC made this trip possible and has greatly contributed to the expansion of my world perspective.”

Making It Affordable

Studying abroad may cost less than you think. Junior Journey offers a one-time reduced-cost travel experience for eligible juniors and seniors, and for semester programs. Much of your state and federal financial aid may apply. Scholarships such as the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship offer additional support for undergraduate study abroad.
