Coursework That Fits a Teacher's Life

Florida teachers have enough on their plates without a semester-long course standing between them and their certification.

The Florida Southern’s Teacher Workshops exist to remove that obstacle: FLDOE-approved courses that satisfy specific certification and recertification requirements, built to be completed quickly, affordably, and entirely online, so you can meet your requirement and get back to your classroom.

Whether you are completing the coursework on your Statement of Eligibility, renewing a professional certificate, or adding an endorsement, here is what makes these courses work for working teachers.

Why the Teacher Workshops

Woman putting coin in piggy bank

Affordable

Enroll only in the courses you need, with no hidden costs. There are no application, technology, or book fees. Each course is a flat $680.

Man with coffee and laptop

Convenient

Every course is 100% online and asynchronous. There are no scheduled class meetings, so you complete your coursework when and where it works for you.

Hand holding wrist watch

Accelerated

Each course condenses a full college semester into nine days. It is a demanding pace, and it means you finish fast.

FLDOE Approved

Every course is pre-approved by the Florida Department of Education to satisfy the coursework portion of a teacher’s Statement of Eligibility, whether you are earning initial certification, upgrading to a professional certificate, or recertifying.

What to Expect

The Teacher Workshops are a series of standalone, FLDOE-approved courses, not a degree or an alternative certification program. Each one condenses a full semester into nine days, roughly 50 hours of work, so you should plan for about five and a half hours of coursework per day during the course.

To make that pace manageable, you get Early Viewing Access two weeks before the course officially opens. During that window, you can review the syllabus, start the readings, and prepare assignments, effectively giving you about 23 days to complete the 50 hours. You will not need to buy a textbook for any course.

Because of the accelerated pace, you may register for only one course per term, and you must earn a grade of C or better in every course.

Who Teacher Workshops Are For

The Teacher Workshops are FLDOE-approved courses for teachers who need to complete specific certification coursework, including:

  • Teachers on a Temporary Certificate completing the requirements listed on their Statement of Eligibility
  • Certified teachers recertifying to renew a Professional Certificate
  • Teachers upgrading from a temporary to a professional certificate or adding a requirement
  • Out-of-state teachers establishing Florida certification (verify requirements with your state first)

Which Course Meets Your Requirements

Match the professional education requirement from your Statement of Eligibility to the Florida Southern course that satisfies it. When in doubt, verify with the FLDOE Certification Office before enrolling.
