From Great Teacher to School Leader

You already know what great teaching looks like. The MEd in Educational Leadership (MED EL) prepares you to extend that impact beyond your own classroom, to a whole school, a district, and the students and teachers who depend on strong leadership.

Designed for certified Florida educators with at least two years of classroom experience, this Florida Department of Education approved program leads to Level 1 Educational Leadership Certification. You will build practical skills in school operations, law and ethics, finance, and instructional leadership, applying them in real school settings throughout the program, and graduate ready to take on a school or district administrative role.

The Master of Education in Educational Leadership curriculum is designed to prepare aspiring school leaders to create meaningful, lasting impact in their schools and communities. Through coursework grounded in ethical leadership and professional standards, candidates develop the knowledge and skills to lead with integrity, foster a shared vision for student success, and build strong partnerships with families, educators, and community stakeholders.

The program emphasizes strategic decision-making, effective school operations, continuous improvement, and the development of safe, inclusive, and high-performing learning environments. Students also learn to strengthen instructional leadership by building the professional capacity of teachers, mentoring future leaders, and using collaborative communication to promote the academic success and well-being of every student.

Florida-Approved and FELE-Aligned

FSC’s MEd in Educational Leadership is a Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) state-approved Educational Leadership program. The curriculum addresses the Florida Educational Leadership Standards (FELS) and the competencies and indicators of the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE). Graduates pass all components of the FELE and qualify for a Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate in Educational Leadership.

Leadership Experience Built In

Rather than a single end-of-program internship, leadership experiences are woven into each course. You will practice in real school settings throughout the program, with feedback from both a school administrator mentor and your professor, so the work you do in class translates immediately to the work you do on campus.
