Current certifications in Lifeguard Training and First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED administration from the American Red Cross are required. This training is available on-site in August, prior to the start of the academic year.

Water Safety Instructor

Water Safety Instructors teach swimming and water safety to program participants. Summer swimming lessons for children are the primary need for this position, though swim instruction is also offered to FSC students during the academic year upon request. Summer positions do not require work program placement, but academic year positions require placement through Financial Aid.

Waterfront Attendant

Waterfront Attendants supervise patrons using the waterfront facility on Lake Hollingsworth, maintain facility usage records, and provide excellent customer service. Staff are trained to respond to emergencies involving stranded participants on the lake. Waterfront Attendants must maintain American Red Cross Adult CPR and First Aid certifications.

Climbing Wall Attendant

This part-time position requires a general background in rock climbing, climbing techniques, equipment maintenance, and customer service. Climbing Wall Attendants oversee day-to-day operations of the climbing wall and bouldering area, outfit and instruct participants for safe climbing, and maintain, sanitize, and rotate equipment. Attendants enforce HWC policies and are expected to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for participants of all abilities.

Front Desk & Fitness Attendant

The Front Desk Attendant is the first point of contact for everyone entering the Wellness Center–monitoring entry and exit, enforcing policies and procedures, answering phones, operating the cash register, checking out bicycles, and providing exceptional customer service. Fitness Attendants are an integral part of the fitness staff, requiring a general background in weight lifting and spotting techniques, equipment maintenance, and quality customer service.

Personal Trainer

Personal Trainers manage, administer, and implement fitness assessments, training sessions, and wellness consultations. They review wellness questionnaires, provide feedback, and serve as a resource to all patrons regarding FSC's wellness programs and incentives. Personal Trainers are also responsible for marketing and customer service related to the fitness area of the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center.

Group Exercise Instructor

Group Exercise Instructors lead and educate participants during classes while ensuring a safe environment for all. Instructors have a thorough understanding of all group exercise program guidelines and serve as a resource to patrons regarding wellness programs and incentives. They are also responsible for marketing and customer service related to the fitness area.

Intramural Supervisor

Intramural Supervisors report to the Assistant Director of Intramurals and Facilities and are responsible for overseeing all areas of intramural sports and activities. They maintain a safe and pleasant atmosphere for participants, staff, and spectators, and oversee Intramural Officials and game control.

Intramural Official

Intramural Officials report to the Assistant Director of Intramurals and Facilities and Intramural Supervisors. They are responsible for participant supervision, scorekeeping, officiating, risk management, field maintenance, policy enforcement, and documentation. Quality customer service skills and sufficient sports knowledge are required. Officiating experience is preferred but not required.

Head Guard

Experienced lifeguards with at least one semester of lifeguarding for the Wellness Center are encouraged to apply for this supervisory role. Head Guards work with the Aquatics and Waterfront programs, ensuring appropriate shift coverage, maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment, and communicating staff and safety concerns. Additional training opportunities are provided to support professional development.
