Professors encourage us to be active participants in our fields. They give us their personal contact information and invite us to reach out. They use their networks to get us connected with opportunities that propel us towards our goals, even if our dream is to star on Broadway!

The opportunities to perform are fantastic, and the staff in both the music and theatre department are dead set on making you the best you can be. The small class sizes make you feel like you're not just another number.

Performance Opportunities

The Theatre Arts at Florida Southern presents four main stage productions each year, including two musicals and a second stage lab production. There are also opportunities for additional student productions. The main stage productions are presented in the beautiful Loca Lee Buckner Theatre, an intimate 336-seat thrust stage outfitted with three full-stage hydraulic lifts and high-end lighting and sound equipment and software. Student productions are mounted in the Frank Lloyd Wright Theatre-in-the-Round, which serves as our lab theatre and is entirely student run. Additionally, Florida Southern College’s Festival of Fine Arts program brings in world-class productions and concerts in the third theatre facility on campus, the 1,800-seat proscenium theatre, Branscomb Auditorium.
