The Dance Performance and Choreography program leverages performance to enhance the learning of movement composition.
Enjoy learning every day in a brand new state-of-the-art, 4,700-square-foot facility—The Wynee Warden Dance Studio—built specifically for the Dance program.
Our experienced, dedicated faculty, as well as world-class guest artists, will mentor you and help you develop the discipline, self-confidence, and drive for a successful career in dance.
Florida Southern students have traveled to New York, London, and Paris to get a firsthand look at what goes into creating a great performance.
Abundant opportunities for performance and real-world learning make Florida Southern College the ideal place to unleash your creative potential and hone your skills.
Students may be accepted into the Dance Studies B.A. or Dance Performance and Choreography B.F.A. program only through an audition.
Auditions are offered several times throughout the school year. The audition process will consist of ballet and modern dance technique, as well as improvisational movement. Students should also prepare a short solo of 90 seconds or less. The solo may be student choreography or a part of work choreographed by someone else.
In DAN 1561 Dance Improvisation, you'll learn fundamentals like Laban movement qualities, breath work, instinctual movement, and movement inspirations.
