About the Alderman Scholarship
Eminent citrus industry executive, Florida native, and decorated World War II veteran Gettys P. Alderman and his wife Alice, remembered for her remarkable banking and finance career, were longtime Lakeland residents and members of the College Heights United Methodist Church who believed deeply in the value of higher education. Motivated by their desire to help students with financial need earn a college degree, they established The Gettys P. and Alice D. Alderman Scholarship at Florida Southern College.
