Summer String Orchestra Camp 2024

June 23 - June 28

Register Now

Who Can Attend?

The camp is open to students entering grades 7 through 12 in the Fall of the next school year. Students of all playing abilities and background are welcomed. The camp is open to students who play violin, viola, cello or double bass. Enrollment for the camp is limited due to residence hall space, as always, waiting lists will develop.

String Seating Audition

Everyone is required to do the seating audition and no exceptions will be made. During the Registration students will do a “short” audition to help the staff place them in an ensemble based on their ability. This will ensure the student receives the best instruction possible! The student can prepare one of the All-State Etudes, a short solo, or anything showing their playing ability. Students will also be asked to play some of their scales. Play something that shows off your skills, range, technique, and musical expression. Treat this as a serious audition. Campers will be placed in an ensemble based of their seating audition. Ensemble conductors have the final say and the right to move players in or out of the section as they see fit. Bring a music stand, and all your instrument equipment (rosin, shoulder rest, rock stop, extra strings).
