Meet Savanna Moss '22

Day in the Life

Sep 15, 2021

by FSC Staff

Mocsie sat down with Savanna — a bright, ambitious computer science student with a double concentration in AI/Machine Learning and Web Development. We
learned she’s very involved on campus, preparing herself for
her intended career in software engineering. She serves as president of the Computer Science Club and is an active participant in ACE (Association of Campus Entertainment).

WHY COMPUTER SCIENCE AT FSC:

"Even in a male dominated field, I would argue that every woman in this department is excelling, which is something you may not see at a larger school. I look around and see that the women around me are doing great things. The faculty is always pushing us to take on new opportunities and are keeping us on an even playing field. I feel as though this department has really improved my communication skills. Future employers are always looking for graduates to be able to communicate effectively, and this department prepares us for that."

ON ENGAGED LEARNING:

"I have been working as a Tech Buddy since my second semester here. At the end of the spring 2020 semester, my supervisor offered me a promotion to manager. I’ve been working as a manager since then and it’s been a great experience. I love getting to work in my field without taking on an extremely demanding role. I also enjoy being able to help people."

“The opportunities I saw here, I didn’t think I could get at another school.”

WHY FSC:

"For me, it’s all about the community. I came for Scholars Weekend and for a Day on Campus and both were really good experiences. My Scholars Weekend host was amazing. She made an effort to help me learn more about the school and answered all the questions I had about the program. The opportunities I saw here, I didn’t think I could get at another school. I feel like this is where I was meant to be."
