Connor is an involved member of the Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise, double majoring in Business Administration and Economics and Finance. He is a member of Delta Sigma Pi, Theta Chi, Dean’s Advisory Council, Student Government Association, Omicron Delta Kappa, Orientation Leaders, and Southern Ambassadors. Geez, Mocsie’s out of breath!
Why FSC: “I’m from Naples, FL which is only about two and a half hours away from Florida Southern. I always said that I wanted to go to college elsewhere, specifically outside of Florida. I even visited 30 schools trying to find the right fit! I had visited FSC before, but I wasn’t sold until I came to Scholars Weekend. My dad and I always played a game wherever we visited; wherever we were on the campus we would smile and always say hello to whomever we encountered, and by far FSC was the friendliest, and that stays true to this day. I know that I didn’t want to be in a hall full of 300 people for a class so the intimacy of Florida Southern, where you’re a name and not a number, was the best fit for me.”
On the Business School: “I knew I had a passion for business, I also have always felt a social responsibility to give back to the community I am part of. I found my first two internships through FSC’s Career Center with Auto-Owners Insurance and the Naples Zoo and Caribbean Gardens. Recently, I started a 2-year internship program with JP Morgan Chase that a fellow alumni had suggested to me. With this program, I will partake in rotations that allow me to experience several opportunities to decide what path I want to pursue within the company post-graduation. None of this would be possible without the support and guidance provided by faculty members. They offer great advice and are a support system for you whether you need it or not. This is something that not every institution can offer but it’s nice to always know where my professors are at and to even have their cell phone numbers in case of an emergency.”
A day in the life
8:00 AM – “I’m not a morning person, but nothing stops me from heading to the Healthy Blend Deli to grab my favorite banana chocolate chip pancakes every morning.”
9:25 AM – “I head to my Microsoft Excel course to satisfy my major requirements. I never knew how intricate and impressive Excel was before this course!”
10:50 AM – “‘Convo’ hour is usually always booked for me. This time frame is very popular for morning meetings with the various organizations I am involved in.”
Noon – “You can always find me at the Buck Stop for lunch. I can’t get enough of their pizza!”
1:00 PM – “After lunch, I try to work on assignments that are due. It is my goal each week to finish everything, even when the procrastination starts kicking in. Grades come first for me, so I make sure to devote enough time to each course I’m in.”
2:30PM – “I love going to my professor’s office hours. Knowing they’re accessible and there when I need them is an added benefit of FSC.”
5:00 PM – “I love going to Wynee’s Bistro for dinner every night, sitting at their long tables. Originally I go with a few friends and before you know it, there’s 20 of us having a great time.
7:00 PM – “In the evenings, you can find me on in the intramural field playing spike ball with a few friends or joining in on a sand volleyball game.”
