Florida Southern College recently welcomed two local business leaders as new members of the Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise Advisory Board. The new board members are Courtney Makris, vice president of business development at Paul Davis Restoration and a member of FSC’s Class of 2012, and Rob McCollum, market president for the commercial community bank division at Truist in the Greater Polk County market.
The Barnett Business advisory board is a team of business leaders who provide counsel to the College’s leadership, dean, and department chairs that helps to facilitate innovative and relevant academic programs, community collaboration, fundraising, and high-quality employment for graduates.
Courtney Makris helps clients and prospective clients improve their operating results in her position with Paul Davis Restoration, which offers emergency services to property insurance carriers and those they insure, with more than 325 locations throughout North America. A seasoned sales executive, Makris began her career in the insurance industry by leading the sales team at Enservio, a software and service provider to the property insurance industry. After graduating from FSC, Makris completed the Women in Executive Leadership program at Cornell University. She and her husband, James, live in Lakeland with their two children.
Rob McCollum is a Polk County native with more than 23 years of banking experience. In his current role, he coordinates the efforts of Truist (formerly SunTrust and BB&T) and represents the company on the board of the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the United Way Business Services Advisory Board, and serves as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Wales. McCollum and his wife, Dawn, live in Lake Wales with their three daughters.
