Senior BSN nursing students and faculty are giving back to the local community by coming together to purchase Christmas gifts for families in need.
Student coordinators Katie Burke, Julia Waidler, and Lauren Erwin helped delivered FSC's Christmas gift donations for One More Child's local "Christmas store."
Dr. Nancy Marc, along with senior nursing students Katie Burke, Lauren Erwin, and Julia Waidler, coordinated the project — collecting money from the senior class and faculty and purchasing requested gifts totaling more than $800.
Dr. Marc and the students delivered the gifts to One More Child on Nov. 23.
This semester, during their Community Health Nursing course, each student spent one clinical day at One More Child, a volunteer organization with the mission of providing Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families. These services are focused on providing meals, supplies, and homes to single mothers and their children.
One More Child sets up an annual “Christmas store” that is stocked by members of the local community who donate gifts requested by children. The children's mothers are able to select gifts they otherwise might be unable to afford.
FSC's students were excited to be able to participate in this amazing program and give back to the community.
