Virtual Academic Department Meeting: The faculty did an outstanding job orchestrating our first Virtual Academic Department Meeting for freshman and transfer students. The session was informative and fun! A special thanks to Dr. Hardin for coordinating the event.
Ally spent the summer of 2020 as a tax intern at The IRONMAN Group. The main assignment that she worked on was retrieving data and preparing the Value-Added Tax (VAT) reconciliations. She gained valuable business experience and she is grateful that the internship has been extended into the upcoming fall semester.
Rachael is a senior Accounting and Business Administration double major and a soon-to-be graduate, seeking to begin a MAcc program in the Fall of 2020. She was selected for the prestigious summer Internship Development Program at Raymond James Financial. She worked in the Internal Audit Department where she had the opportunity to apply essential knowledge learned from the world-class Accounting faculty at Florida Southern College. Highlights from the internship included the testing of internal controls and attending control walkthroughs with external auditors. She has accepted an offer from Raymond James to extend her internship experience into the fall semester. In a quote from Rachael, she said; “I would like to thank Professor Jozsi for being my faculty mentor and for always supporting me in reaching far beyond my dreams”.

Annette Boyd Pitts joined the team at the School of Business two weeks ago and has been Zooming with students and internship supervisors every moment. She will be teaching two sections of the Professional Development course and coordinating ten sections of internships. Companies throughout Lakeland and across the country are filling their internships (and employment opportunities) with our business students. Current internship sites this semester include Keller Williams, Northwestern Mutual, Mosaic, Catapult, Department of State, Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine, and so many more! One student will be working with the Economic Section of Mission China in the area of foreign affairs and the economy. She will be researching data on tourism, healthcare, and emerging market trends, as well as preparing a variety of resources such as infographics, reports, and other publications.
