Florida Southern’s Christianne Roll, associate professor of musical theatre and program coordinator, together with her daughters Brooklyn, 10, and Cadence, 8—performing as The Roll Family Singers—entertained hundreds of invited guests in the Grand Foyer of the White House on Dec. 10, 2019.

“We sang for two-and-a-half hours,” Roll said, as visitors viewed the magnificent Christmas decorations in the executive offices. “Afterward, with my Dad and my husband as chaperones, we toured the decorations, and my girls got to meet the executive pastry chef. She gave them some homemade peppermint bark!”

After learning in August that the White House was welcoming audition tapes from performers who would like to take part in the holiday event, Roll submitted a video of the three of them singing at church. They were notified in mid-October that they had been selected to participate, and the family immediately started making plans.

“My daughters both are now interested in working in the White House,” Roll said, noting that they previously had been focused on Walt Disney World.
