If you don’t yet have any plans for Valentine’s Day this year, try checking out what’s happening on and around campus. This year the college has an array of events perfect to make your Valentine’s day super special. If you’re looking for a fun activity to do with friends or just something unique to do for that special someone in your life, then read on to get a few ideas!.

Bouquet of flowers

1. Festive Flowers

This year on the 14th, as part of “Random Acts of Kindness” week, you’ll have the opportunity to stop by the Buck Stop and make a bouquet. Take your special-someone and head on over at 11 a.m. and surprise each other with a colorful and flowery treat.

2. Get Energized

A V-day Special group exercise event will be held at the Hollis Wellness Center featuring couples yoga. The class starts at 4:30 p.m. and runs for about an hour. Get your blood pumping and your muscles stretched with your partner.

Kayaking at the lake

3. Lakeside Extravaganza

If you want to do something low key but still fun and outdoorsy you can take your significant other (or even a group of friends) kayaking in lake Hollingsworth. You can rent paddleboards and kayaks for free from the Waterfront. Bikes rentals are also free through the Wellness Center if you’re more in the mood for an easy ride around the lake.

4. Hakuna Matata

Through Discover Florida Program there will be a trip to Orlando to see Disney’s The Lion King. It’s $25 for a single ticket and $45 for two. You can sign up for this trip on the Discover Florida page in the Florida Southern website.

Business handshake

5. Keep it Business

Perhaps you and yours want to spend this day seriously exercising your business networking skills. You’d be doing each other a great future favor by attending the career and internship expo, happening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Honeyman Pavilion.

Melvin Art Gallery

6. Always a Reason to Visit Melvin

Right now, artist Yolanda Sanchez’s work is on display at the Melvin Art gallery in Spivey Fire Arts building. Take your roomie, friend, or crush over to visit her contemporary art, which uses color to convey emotion — perfect for a V-day related conversation.

7. Arts and Dinner

The Polk Museum of Art is just a walk away from campus. Right now, Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s work is on display. His work illustrates the Parisian life in the late 1800s and he’s conserved an influential figure in what is now referred to as Avant-guard Parisian art. Wrap up your night by having a romantic dinner at The Red Door (also a walk away from the Museum and campus), to enjoy escargot or another fancy Valentine’s meal.

8. Lake Hollingsworth

Another low-key thing to do with your significant other near campus is a picnic at the lake. Since the grass around the lake is kept mowed year-round, there are tons of locations to lay out a blanket and enjoy the view and each other’s company. You don’t even have to put much effort into what to bring — just grab something at the Grill Master or Buck Stop and head over to the lake for a laid-back date.
