U.S. News & World Report has once again ranked Florida Southern College among the top 20 regional universities in the South. In the 2018 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges guide released last week, FSC improved to No. 19 in its category. Florida Southern is the only college or university in Polk County to be listed in the top tier and one of four schools in the State of Florida.

According to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, regional universities provide a full range of undergraduate majors and master’s programs and only a few doctoral programs. U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges ranks these schools against their peer group in one of four regions – North, South, Midwest and West – because they tend to draw students most heavily from surrounding states.

“We are gratified that we have been recognized once again as one of the best regional universities in the South in this prestigious college ranking,” said FSC President Anne Kerr. “Florida Southern has been recognized for many years for its academic excellence and rigor. This is yet another national ranking confirming FSC quality.”
