Florida Southern College will host an important initiative of the Florida Chamber of Commerce designed to prepare the State of Florida for the explosive growth that is anticipated over the next decade.

Florida 2030 Town Hall is an interactive event created to help stimulate strategic thinking about Florida’s future and engage community leaders in identifying key trends and factors that drive the regional economy. Florida Southern will host this event on September 6 in the Thrift Alumni Center on campus. It will begin with a breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by the Town Hall from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

A second event will be held the same day from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce.

The Florida Chamber Foundation is leading Florida 2030, a two-year research program. By 2030, 6 million more residents will call Florida home and 2 million more jobs will be needed. To ensure Florida remains successful, the Florida Chamber Foundation is creating a plan for Florida’s future that develops high-wage jobs, diversifies the economy, ensures global competitiveness and creates vibrant communities.

At the Town Hall, Tony Carvajal, executive vice president of the Florida Chamber Foundation, will give a presentation about trends and projections for Florida’s future economic and business situation. He will then moderate an interactive poll during which participants are able to register their opinions about the state of the local business climate.

“We are excited about the opportunity to host our residents as well as business and government leaders from across the county to share their thoughts on the Florida of tomorrow,” said Dr. Chuck DuVal, director of the MBA program at the Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise at FSC. “The Florida 2030 project will help start the conversation of where we go from here.”

Government, civic, and business leaders are invited to participate in this opportunity to prepare Florida for a fabulous future. To register for this event, RSVP by email to SchoolofBusiness@flsouthern.edu or call 863-616-6458 by Friday, September 1.
