The 2016-2017 season of the Festival of Fine Arts at Florida Southern College concludes with a flourish next week with a concert by the FSC Symphony Orchestra.

The concert, “Symphonic Jubilations,” takes place at 7:30 p.m. on April 27 at Branscomb Auditorium on the FSC campus, with a pre-concert presentation beginning at 7 p.m.

The orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Kira Omelchenko, will perform two stirring and beloved works, the overture from Verdi’s opera Nabucco, and selections from Bizet’s Carmen Suite, an orchestral arrangement of pieces from his famous opera.

In addition, the winners of FSC’s second annual orchestra concerto/aria competition will perform with the orchestra, including the premiere of an original composition by percussion student Tommy Riesbeck. Flutist Dariella Parejas will perform a movement from Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G Major, and baritone Josef Samargia will sing an aria from Mozart’s opera Le Nozze di Figaro.

Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for students. For more information, call (863) 680-4296 or go to www.flsouthern.edu/ffa.
