In its debut performance, the new Department of Dance at Florida Southern College will offer its first concert, featuring original dances and special guest performances by the Florida Dance Theatre.

The concert, “FSC | dance: New Beginnings,” will showcase the talents of FSC dance students in three performances: 7:30 p.m. on April 22 and 23, and 2:30 p.m. on April 24. All performances are in Branscomb Auditorium on the FSC campus.

Under the artistic direction of FSC Assistant Professor of Dance and Dance Program Coordinator Erin LaSala, the concert will feature four original dances choreographed by LaSala; Carol Erkes, artistic director of the Florida Dance Theatre and adjunct FSC faculty member; and guest artists Jennifer Guy Metcalf and Michael Snipe. Ranging across styles from classical to modern, these innovative and exciting dances are sure to please audiences.

Also on the program will be selected dances from the distinctive repertoire of the Florida Dance Theatre, Polk County’s only professional dance company and FSC’s Company in Residence.

Tickets for “FSC | dance: New Beginnings” are $18 for adults and $9 for students. Tickets can be purchased in person using cash or credit card at the Branscomb Auditorium Box Office, located on Johnson Avenue (use Parking Lot VA), by telephone at 863.680.4296, or online at www.flsouthern.edu/ffa.
