Over the years, my teaching philosophy has become more focused on student learning. I am committed to understanding my students, providing both theoretical and contextual knowledge, offering a rich and exciting learning environment, delivering and accepting constructive feedback, and challenging my students so they can flourish and achieve their academic goals. I treat all my students with the greatest respect and make them feel comfortable so they can discuss topics and express their needs.

Dr. Alzyoud earned his BSc in Physical Therapy in 2005 from the Hashemite University in Jordan and his MSc in Physical Therapy from New York Institute of Technology in 2007. He moved to the United States in August of 2011 and earned his PhD in Physical Therapy (with emphasis on neurology and neurological rehabilitation) from Texas Woman’s University in May, 2017.

He worked as a Graduate Assistant for three years, which allowed him to experience different styles of teaching and gave him the opportunity to help in teaching several courses. In June of 2014, he started his clinical career as a licensed physical therapist in the United States. For more than four years, he served in extended rehab facilities as well as acute care in Florida and Texas.

Dr. Alzyoud’s research interests are largely directed towards understanding human balance, particularly learning how sitting balance impairment following neuromuscular injuries influences the recovery process and activity participation. His ultimate research goal is to assist people with neuromuscular disorders in developing new strategies and techniques to maximize their participation in functional activities and minimize the risk of further injuries.
