Alex Siyufy, DPT, ATC, SCS, Cert. MDT, Cert. DN, SFMA

Associate Professor

Alex Siyufy DPT, ATC, SCS, Cert. MDT, Cert. DN, SFMA is a licensed Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer. Dr. Siyufy is a board-certified Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS), certified in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Cert. MDT), certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), and also holds a certification in Dry Needling (Cert. DN) from the Spinal Manipulation Institute. As a clinician, Dr. Siyufy previously directed an Outpatient Physical Therapy clinic in Virginia Beach, VA and served as adjunct faculty for the Old Dominion University (ODU) DPT and Master’s in Athletic Training programs. Prior to joining Florida Southern, Dr. Siyufy was an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator for the DPT program at Radford University located in Roanoke, VA. Additionally, Dr. Siyufy has a background as an item writer for the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) and as an examiner for the National Athletic Trainer’s Board of Certification (BOC) examination. Dr. Siyufy has an active research agenda and is currently involved in several studies in the area of manual therapy, specifically Trigger point deactivation techniques and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). 

Dr. Siyufy received his DPT from the University of Pittsburgh and BS in Athletic Training from Duquesne University. He is currently a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and member of the Orthopedic section.
