Biography
Dr. Leilani Goodmon is an assistant professor in the department of psychology. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Stetson University in 1997 and her Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from the University of South Florida in 2005. She completed a postdoctoral research assistantship under Dr. Lili Sahakyan at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She is a cognitive psychologist with research interests in the area of human memory. Her current research program includes investigating the influence of pre-existing knowledge and ways of thinking on conscious and unconscious memory. Dr. Goodmon has eleven publications in scientific journals and has presented her research at many conferences, such as Psychonomic Society, International Conference on Memory, American Psychological Society, and the National Institute on the Teaching of Psychology. Most recently, her paper entitled, “Semantic Integration as a Boundary Condition on Inhibitory Processes in Episodic Retrieval” was published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition in January of 2011. She also has ten years of teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate level.
