Keri Matheus DNP

Assistant Professor of Nursing

My teaching philosophy is rooted in a desire to help shape each student into a highly competent and talented nurse that will be an asset to each patient they encounter and to the profession of nursing. I see my role as a facilitator enabling students to learn, not only the theoretical knowledge and skills needed to be a nurse, but also the human compassion/empathy necessary to care for patients daily. I believe in bringing a firm, but fair approach with my students. While simultaneously having a very caring and compassionate attitude with all my students. I would like for the students leaving my class to be cognizant that nursing is not only a science, but an art that must be respected and perfected to the best of each of our abilities. That only through hard work and dedication can each of us attain that individual excellence. In order to best facilitate my student’s learning, I utilize multiple teaching strategies to engage every student and meet their individual learning needs.
