I teach with the deeply held belief that anyone can learn. I believe as an instructor I am a guidepost pointing students onward while continuously reminding each student of their potential. As much as this sounds like a lofty ideal, it is exactly why I love teaching. I have the chance to nurture the seeds of knowledge in each student that may just bloom into something that changes the world. And because I believe this, I hold the students to a set of clear-cut rigorous standards and expectations. My courses do demand hard work, but they are not onerous. Rather, they continually challenge students to show up with their very best and to redefine their expectations of themselves. If I believe they can do better, why don’t they? My greatest desire is to give my students a love for learning and a belief in themselves that allows them to exceptional nurses and successful in future endeavors.
