Phillip Fiorello, PhD., RN, CNE

Assistant Professor of Nursing

My teaching philosophy is my doctrine, my set of guiding principles, and my mission statement to my audience; the student’s I will assist in teaching the skills necessary to make them successful and safe nurses. I believe in developing a student-teacher relationship with students that fosters a true understanding of how they learn and what is important to them. Using a narrative pedagogical approach, I share my experiences as a nurse to bring content to life for students helping them to contextualize and co-construct their own learning. I aim to create an environment where students do not just recall information but can apply the concepts to inform clinical judgment and clinical decision-making. Finally, through my own enthusiasm, it is my goal to instill the belief in my students that education is a lifelong endeavor in the field of nursing.
