Doctor Dave Coash has been a member of the Florida Orchestra since 1978. He has also been on the Florida Southern College faculty since 2004. His percussion career has been quite diverse. His work in The Florida Orchestra includes both classical percussion and timpani. He is also an experienced drum set player in the areas of jazz and show music. He has been an adjudicator for the Florida Bandmasters Association, at both the District and State levels since 1986. His solo/chamber music experience includes Master classes in Florida and in several states as well as Faculty recitals at Florida Southern and the University of Tampa. He was the co-founder and director of SPECTRUM, a contemporary music ensemble based in Tampa, where he played both solo and chamber music written in the 20th century. He has also been a member of the Brass Band of Battle Creek since 1993, including a concert tour of the United Kingdom in 1998 and several recordings.. His wife, Marcy, is both brilliant and beautiful and they have 3 cats: Tiger Lilly, Billie and The Squish.
I like to find older drums and restore them with a new finish and to make them playable. This includes stripping the shells and staining/painting them, cleaning and polishing the hardware and adding calf skin heads , which I "tuck" (mount) myself. VERY old school.
