Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication

I think of my class as a community, and encourage students to embrace other points of view as a way to foster an enriching learning environment. I create an interactive, comfortable space in which students can express themselves freely while learning to engage with the material in meaningful ways. My teaching methodologies encourage students to to be stronger critical thinkers, writers and speakers, while developing a more inclusive understanding of the world.

After a successful career in Marketing, Dr. Keys returned to school to earn her Ph.D. in Communication. She has always had a passion for learning and helping others. Dr. Keys' research areas include: children and media, media literacy, gender, race and class representations in media, and entertainment education. Dr. Keys strives to instill the love of learning in her students by demonstrating her own passion for learning to them. She is delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to her field and Florida Southern College, and takes pride in creating meaningful learning environments that help prepare students for endless opportunities.


Dr. Keys loves spending time with her family, reading, traveling, cooking, and writing children's books and short stories.
