“My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that an instructor directly affects the success of his or her students. Nursing instructors, must provide students with a solid knowledge foundation, safely teach skills in the clinical arena, and empower students to critically think while stressing the importance of core nursing values. Engaging students in the classroom not only affects a student’s educational experience but can leave a lasting impression on their future practice.”
I grew up here in Lakeland, Florida where I eventually attended Florida Southern College for my undergraduate studies. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from FSC and started practicing as an Emergency Department nurse at our local hospital. I have since transferred to the Labor and Delivery unit where I still currently practice. I discovered my passion for education while precepting students at the bedside and returned to Florida Southern to complete my Master of Science in Nursing Education.
