Professor of Biology
Florida Souther students are bright, articulate and curious. I love helping them explore and uncover their "inner geek" . To ignite passions, to encourage questions and connections between what they are learning in the classroom with what they are living in their daily lives.
I am a behavioral ecologist who is interested in burrowing animals. I began my career many years ago studying fiddler and ghost crabs, now my interest is in dung beetles. I am also interested in educational research on how high impact practices encourage student success. I was the Associate Provost from 2012 to 2020 and am excited about returning to the classroom after I serve as a program officer with the National Science Foundation.
