Spring Commencement Announcement

We know that you and your family are very interested in information regarding Florida Southern College’s Spring Commencement plans. After researching information related to holding large events during the pandemic, including the State of Florida’s guidelines on graduation ceremonies, we are so happy to announce that the 2021 Spring Commencement will be a modified in-person ceremony. It will take place on Saturday, May 15. The time and the number of guests will be communicated at a later date.

We are doing everything possible to make this a truly special day to celebrate with you on your incredible accomplishments. At the same time, we have to protect the safety and welfare of every student, guest in attendance, faculty, and staff member participating. Also, we must state that conditions could change if infection rates become an issue; as such, you may wish to plan your travel accordingly, as it is impossible to predict future conditions.

It is a blessing to have the opportunity to conduct a modified in-person ceremony. More information will be forthcoming on the graduation ceremony, but we wanted to get this information out as soon as possible for your early-planning purposes.

We also have plans for the Class of 2020

With the international pandemic keeping you from participating in any in-person commencement ceremonies, we have planned an event for the Class of 2020 this spring, our first opportunity to gather together for an in-person celebration.

Our current plans, subject to change, will include the opportunity to walk across the stage to receive an alumni recognition in a contactless, yet creative manner. Additionally, in order to bring the ceremony to fruition in this pandemic setting, we will have strict rules on masking, physically distanced seating, etc. We are working to estimate how many guests and the live streaming element which will be communicated later.
