The Department of Campus Safety and Security is committed to your safety, and success, at Florida Southern College.
Our dedicated, responsive staff helps to ensure the well-being of the entire College community. Florida Southern’s stable, safe environment enhances the quality of student life and makes FSC an outstanding place to learn and work.
In addition to regular duties such as bike, vehicle, and foot patrols—24 hours a day and 365 days per year, the Department of Safety and Security is a full service law enforcement agency providing safety, security, enforcement, and parking services to the College community.
Florida Southern uses text messaging for conveying time sensitive or emergency information direct to your cell phone. For example you will receive notification of:
- Weather cancellations & delays
- Emergency conditions on or around campus
All students who provide the college with their cell phone number will be automatically enrolled in this service. The College does not recommend it, however, any student wishing to opt out of this service may do so by following the opt-out instructions received in any text received through Omnilert.

As fully explained in the Student Handbook, campus safety officers handle everything from lost or stolen property reports to emergency response. They are trained in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), fire and hazardous-material emergencies, traffic enforcement, security patrol, and sensitivity issues, including the handling of incidents related to tolerance on a multicultural campus. Our mission is to promote a safe environment through student and staff interaction with emphasis on integrity, fairness, and professionalism.
Though it's the primary concern of FSC’s Department of Campus Safety and Security, our entire community works hard to promote and support a safe environment for our students.
