Established by native Floridian Gettys P. Alderman and his wife Alice, this scholarship provides support for promising students with financial need to pursue degrees in Accounting at Florida Southern College.

To be considered, students must:

  • Be a Florida resident
  • Earn a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0
  • 20 ACT or
  • 1050 SAT
  • Have been offered admission to Florida Southern College
  • Major in Accounting
  • Submit a completed FAFSA and demonstrate financial need as determined by the College FSC’s Financial Aid office.

 

About the
Alderman Scholarship

Eminent citrus industry executive, Florida native, and decorated World War II veteran Gettys P. Alderman and his wife Alice, remembered for her remarkable banking and finance career, were longtime Lakeland residents and members of the College Heights United Methodist Church who believed deeply in the value of higher education. Motivated by their desire to help students with financial need earn a college degree, they established The Gettys P. and Alice D. Alderman Scholarship at Florida Southern College.
