What weighs over 1000 pounds, looks a bit like a walrus with wrinkled, gray-brown, spongy skin, is sometimes called a "sea cow", is related to an elephant, was mistaken for mermaids, can eat more than 100 pounds of vegetables per day, and travels an average of 3 to 5 miles per hour? Why the manatee, of course!
Come snorkel with these gentle giants in Crystal River. This program is a 2 day, 1 night program and costs only $60, which includes wet suit rental. Participants will camp at a campground near the snorkel experience, and wake up early to visit the manatees. Participants will receive instruction on proper interaction with the manatee, as these are wild manatee in their natural environment. Trip fee includes: travel by FSC van, meals, campsite and camping gear, snorkel rental and snorkel experience. Don’t forget to bring an underwater camera!
The trip is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, November 14 & 15. The $25 registration fee includes food, transportation, camping and a snorkel experience. The fee does not include wetsuit rental. Wetsuit is required. Rental available locally or at the destination.
Mandatory pre-trip meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Wellness Center Lobby.
