The 19th most populated city in Florida, Lakeland is a blend of modern conveniences and diversions. The city consists of 90,000 people, and more than 171,000 people live within a seven-mile radius of downtown. With Tampa and Orlando less than an hour away, Lakeland boasts a skilled workforce, strong economy, and economic development, lodging and convention facilities, quality health care, exceptional educational opportunities, excellent transportation, and abundant leisure activities and cultural events.
Lakeland's Central Florida location makes both fun and work easily accessible. The major attractions of Walt Disney World, Busch Gardens, Universal Studios, Sea World and Cypress Gardens are all less than an hour away. The Gulf of Mexico beaches are less than sixty minutes to the west of Lakeland, while the Atlantic Ocean beaches are ninety minutes east.
Lakeland's cultural life includes The Lakeland Center, the historic Polk Theatre, the fully-accredited Polk Museum of Art, and the Sun-n-Fun Fly In Museum. In addition, Florida Southern College offers not only the largest one-site-collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the world, but also internationally known performers as part of its Festival of Fine Arts series.
