Honors Orientation


Honors Orientation - June 16 and 17

Honors Orientation is an overnight program (for students only) that coincides with our summer Advising Day programs on happening on Friday, June 16, 2017 and Saturday, June 17, 2017. Please note that students must register separately for these two events.

What to expect during Honors Orientation

  • Spending one night in a residence hall with another freshman honors student
  • What to wear: casual clothes, bring a sweater/jacket/raincoat
  • Get the most out of the experience by participating, meeting new people, exchanging contact information, asking questions
  • Helpful items to bring: bed linens & pillow, towels, change of clothes, toiletries, phone charger, etc.

Don’t forget to sign up for a Summer Advising Day as well.

Honors Orientation is being held in conjunction with Summer Advising Day, but registration for these events is separate.

Friday, June 16

3:00 – 4:00 PM Check-In (Miller Hall Lobby)
4:15 – 5:00 PM Honors Program Welcome and Icebreakers (Honeyman)
Get to know your peers through fun ice breakers and conversation.
5:00 – 5:45 PM Honors Program Orientation (Branscomb 202)
Hear from program director, Dr. Gabe Langford, and connect with other honors faculty as they orient you to the honors program at Florida Southern.
6:00– 7:15 PM Dinner (Wynee's Bistro)
Dine and discuss with honors students and faculty.
7:15 – 9:00 PM Honors Program Activity (Campus-Wide)
Challenge yourself while competing in group activities with honors students and faculty.
9:00 – 9:30 PM Evening Activities
Close out the night with an ice cream social with your new friends.
9:30 PM Residence Hall Connection (Miller Hall)

Saturday, June 17

7:30 – 8:30 AM Breakfast (Wynee's Bistro)
8:30 - 9:15 AM                       Check Out (Miller Hall)
Gather your belongings and depart for home or Advising Day
