What do you enjoy most about working in FSC’s Office of Admissions?

I am a Florida Southern graduate, so I welcome the opportunity to share my experiences with our future students. I enjoyed my time here immensely, so I know that it is a great place to learn, socialize, be active, and grow into the person you will become. FSC has the resources and tools to help you reach your goals, take advantage!

Do you have a favorite spot on campus?

Mine is a bit unique: I’d have to say the Intramural Field. After a year on the Men’s Varsity Soccer team, I was unable to continue at the collegiate level due to health concerns. Fortunately, Florida Southern has such an extensive Intramural program, I was able to stay very active. I participated in virtually every sport or event they offered, even winning the Men’s All-Sports Championship in 2009-2010 with my friends. (Check out the banner in the Wellness Center gym. And yes, that was our team name.) I can’t even begin to estimate how many hours I spent on that field during my four years as a student. But now that I’m back, keep an eye out for me.

What about hobbies or outside interests?

I have always been an athlete, so sports, sports and more sports. I still play soccer often, I follow all the Tampa sports teams and attend games whenever possible (especially the Rays, Rowdies, and Lightning. The Buccaneers on the other hand… It’s a sore subject). Also, I really enjoy traveling, particularly internationally. That’s a passion I obtained after a study abroad trip through Florida Southern. So far I’ve seen a lot of Europe, with South America next on my list. But I never forget just how expansive and beautiful our country is; I embarked on a 5 week road trip last summer that spanned nearly 8,000 miles, from Florida to Wyoming and back. With quite a few stops along the way.

Any favorite restaurants or hangouts in Lakeland?

Reececliff or Fat Jack’s for breakfast, Palace Pizza for lunch (two words: garlic knots), and Harry’s Seafood Bar and Grille for the occasional nice dinner. For hangouts, nothing beats a friend’s house for some grilling.

Favorite thing to do in Lakeland on the weekends?

I really like Downtown Lakeland; it’s a cool area with unique restaurants, shops, and establishments. Lakeside Village Mall is the place to see a movie and grab some food beforehand. Also, I am always looking for pickup soccer or ultimate frisbee, so I can probably be found at one of Lakeland’s sports complexes. Occasionally, if I want to shake things up, Tampa, Orlando, and all the beaches are just a short drive away.
